Gamification to drive postive change in society

What is Gamification?

What is Gamification?

Gamification is nothing but just a fancy word for human-centred design. By design, everything around us should be human-centric but unfortunately thats not how the world works.

We are using Gamification principles at my healthtech startup, Làvi to drive human behavior. Developing better habits and systems is the only way to achieve one's health and wellness goals in the long term. Thus, gamification!

To me, Gamification is not just about points or badges but also involves core drivers of human motivation such as meaning, ownership, curiosity etc. very well explained by the Yu-kai Chou's Octalysis Framework shown below.

Gamification is applicable not just to product design but also to your strategy and marketing. As mentioned previously, gamification simply put human-focussed design.

Examples of a few successful gamified products in the market include Duolingo, Apple Fitness, Fitbod etc. Nir Eyal's Hooked model also provides strategies and frameworks to build habit-forming products.

Meaning: Attaching a deeper meaning to life and creating a life filled with purpose, vitality and joy is only possible if you look after yourself and your family.

Ownership: Taking ownership of a bright future by accepting your current state and improving it to fulfil your desires.

Accomplishment: Seeing positive changes in various life areas such as more energy, less bloating, better mood. Feeling a sense of overcoming one's limitations.

Avoidance: Avoiding a painful life filled with diseases, pains or ailments. Not losing your loved ones. Making hard choices to today to lead a better life tomorrow.

How can I help you?

I am passionate about using gamification techniques to drive user behaviour towards bringing positive changes in people's lives. My own experience with coaching my friends and family is also something I leverage while working in this field.

In terms of product development, I have been through the product lifecycle journey for mobile apps, SaaS, platform and web3 products in the last decade. I thus bring diverse skill sets on the table - gamification, UX design, product strategy, coaching and years of product development experience at startups - to bring human-centric products and services to life for my clients.

Lets talk if you have a project in mind.
